Snow in Brisbane!? ¯\(º_o)/¯

[Current Mood : Scared]
[Current Music : Rip Slyme - Masterpiece (remix)]

No, actually, it was just really really really heavy hail. What the fuck is going on with the weather!? It's Summer. The pictures speak for themselves.

Good news all round

Heh, I passed everything this semester. Xiaoyu is great in Tekken 5 DR. Woot, no more low tierness, I can play normal instead of cheap/turtle now.

If you're reading this, Catfish, you gon' get owned!

You'd be a dunce not to know who Mr Miyagi is. Well, anyway, he passed away recently, though, he'll live on for eternity in everyone's hearts as the iconic wise old karate master.

Speaking of which, I did a little digging on the Karate Kid franchise. Did you know that there were 4 movies? Karate Kid I, II, III (featuring a 27 year old Daniel San) and Karate Kid: The next Karate Kid (With Hilary Swank as the "new" Karate Kid). Oh fuck yes! There were even a whole set of Karate Kid toys!!!!!

In other news, Ikkaku's bankai is totally badass.

Shall We Dance

[Current Mood : Peaceful, Flirty]
[Current Music : The Drifters - Save the Last Dance]
[Worth Surfing : Guitar You]

I finally got off my ass and did something useful today. Actually, I was sitting on my ass at the time. I watched 4 hours of Bleach (old episodes) and fell asleep in front of the TV. But this morning, I watched Shall We Dance (the original Japanese one). The movie was fucking good. I remember when Eva told me to find the song by The Drifters (music from the movie) for her. Heh, Good movie... good movie indeed.

My tablet is so much fun! I've been mucking around with a lot of different programs. So far, I LOOOOVE openCanvas (thanks Fuyu for introducing me to it ages ago) and Photoshop (as expected, since it's supposed to be one of the best). I'm yet to try Corel Painter and the other bundled software. Painter looks fun with all the brushes etc, but I guess that will have to wait until I come back from Japan and Hong Kong.

Speaking of which, I'm leaving next Sunday (4th Dec). The excitement of the trip has finally sunk in although I haven't started packing or anything. On the shopping list would be a new phone and some kind of music player (probably an iPod video).

I was talking to Kathrine about the trip and we've decided to meet up in Hong Kong. Thanks for inviting me to your birthday gathering, I had fun .

In other news, I've been fucking lazy this holidays. I've been watching Bleach from the beginning (believe it or not, I started on Wednesday and I'm already out of episodes to watch). As for spoilers.................... IKKAKU HAS BANKAI!!!!!!!

Testing 1,2,3

heh, thought it was too good to be true. embedding flash etc into a blog entry/module.

Doubt it, since it would cause potential trouble to msnspace users.

Will keep testing, since Linh says it's possible. In other news, I passed physiology, waiting for physics results. I hope these results are final.

Bad stuff in the news.

[Current Mood : Unhappy, Happy ]

[Worth Surfing : SgCafe Cosplayers]

The news is pretty depressing now adays, with all the bird flu, terrorist attacks, drug trafficing etc etc. So many schoolies casualties. Fucken high school kids, calm the fuck down, you're ruining the news even more. Of course, there are you responsible ones. Keep it up.

In other news, my tablet was delivered today. Rather, it got delivered to the house next door. The courier van came at 10am-ish, they signed for it, left it in their house and went to work. All this happened in 5 minutes, and there wasn't enough time for me to run over and catch them in time.... so I left a note at their house. Anyway... it was about 3pm when my neighbour knocked on the door. Yay!

Maybe I'll have a drawing every week. ^___^

I went out with the guys yesterday. Played Tekken, had lunch, watched a movie, had icecream and then played more Tekken. We saw Four Brothers. I hadn't heard about the movie until yesterday, and suprisingly, I liked it... I liked it a lot! I reckon it was one of the best movies I saw this year. My friends didn't like it that much though, but I'm sure at least Matt enjoyed it!

You know, spending an entire day with old friends playing your favourite video game can learn you a lot of lessons about each other. I learnt that my threshold for annoyance is pretty low. FUCK you're gay Hayato!!! With that said, I think I deserve every bit of cheapness coming my way.

Anyway, had some great fun with everyone.

I'll finish this half assed blog entry with some funny pictures of Italian cosplayers dressed up as Tekken and Bleach characters, topped with a picture of something I'm gonna buy in Japan! (the Xiaoyu statue).
BAAAAAaaaaaahahhahaha the Devil Jin looks like he's hanging a shit. The Law in the group photo.......AHAHAHAHAHHA and as for the Bleach cosplayers.... *ahem* no comment.

What can I say? It's been a great day so far. I woke up about half an hour ago. No one was home when I woke up, so I was like... hey shit. Then I found a note on the table saying "there is BUN in pot on stove". Fucken awesome, ready to eat breakfast! It was a Mantou (steamed bun thingo), but a bit too plain for my liking. So I put on my chef hat, opened the bun up with my hands, and get this..... I added salt and vinegar chips! I think it's going to be one of the high points of my life.

I was watching the soccer with my dad last night. Congrats to Australia. HERE WE GO HERE WE GO HERE WE GO! Yeah ok.... I don't really follow the soccer or anything else for that matter. But hey, I'm sure anyone can contract World Cup Fever every four years. Funny shoot out session. One of the highly praised players (Viduka) of Australia totally missed the goals. I mean seriously "the goal is THAT *flexes and points* way."

Going with the customs of Soccer and the like, players removed their shirts and proceeded to swap them with players from the opposing team. I saw some poor Aussie player still holding an Australian jersey after the swapping had finished. Talk about GG OWED NO RE.... NO one wanted to swap with you, sucker!

Anyway, I went into Replay for the first time in ages. Spent a good 10 bucks or something on Tekken 5 and Tag. I haven't touched Tekken in about 2 months or something. Suprisingly, not playing for a while has unlearned some of my bad habbits, namely BT f+3+4, 3+4ing with Ling all the time. My Christie, on the other hand, is rusty as crap.

On a totally different note, I went to Yuen's Market with my little brother today and we bought some YanYan dip snacks. I think I'm a strawberry man afterall ^^. We also bought some Pretz. Snacks have evolved so much. Pocky and Pretz used to be single flavour snacks. Now, they even have stuff like Pizza flavour!

Well, I'm sure most of you heard about the bomb threats today (people in Brisbane and probably most of Queensland). No doubt it was just a kid, who was a bit behind in his/her studies. Security is pretty hardcore tight now adays, with all the terrorism and all.

I ended up having to leave the house 4 hours early to get to Griffith today. I was way early, but luckily I was, since there was another threat when I got to uni. Anyway, it was a decent amount of time to do the last cram session (benificial, since I fit 5 lectures and a few dozen common exam questions onto my best friend [TI-83])

I walked out feeling decent. I can't remember the last time I felt like that. Maybe in grade 5 or something when I ACED the end of year maths exam.

Anyway, I'm finished for this year (hopefully). Now comes the anxious period when I have to wait for the results to get published. The results come out on the 1st of December, just in time to ruin the holidays.

**
Dear God, I pray that I pass physiology. I also want to Thank you for getting us through this year. Amen.
**

I think it's already time to make resolutions for next year. If I pass physiology, I will study throughout the entire semester instead of cramming near the end. For you people reading this, please feel free to verbally abuse me if I go back on my word.

-Happily yours

Tom

p.s I should be getting my tablet any day now.
Pictured is an evacuated Central Station after today's bomb threat hoax/joke. I would also like to take the chance to thank whoever caused the big hassle. You indirectly got me to uni early and gave me time to study. Although, if you are a terrorist, get the fuck out.

The least I can say is that it has been a long week. Hardcore studying, staying up until 3am, etc etc and finally, the test. I think I did ok.

Anyway, this week, I've been dabling in a lot of different stuff. Been talking a lot on MSN. One of the funniest conversations I had this week was with Michael Lai. He was bitching about his mum not letting him play a game that he paid for himself. Heh, she's your mum, she knows what's best for you. Anyway, he said the money was "hard earned" and that he also bought an xbox with his "hard earned" money. Do you know how he earned the money?...He sold........... 30 or so Yu-Gi-Oh cards.................... Xbox is about $250 now, so that means that he sold his cards for 8 dollars each! BUT! If you think selling single cards for 8 dollars is heaps, hahahaha. Tom Chanpheng of Australia won the "Magic the Gathering" world tournament in 1996. The prize for first place was something like 20000 USD and a limited edition "world champion" card. He later sold the card for 40000 dollars and opened up Cyber Games at Sunnybank.

You know, all those card games are pretty faddy. I'll admit to being suckered into the Pokémon card fad, but luckily it was only for a month or two. I didn't have many cards either.

k bye

What's the sitch?

Nothing much to say, other than......

Suge Knight is not Uncle Phil from Fresh Prince of Bel-air

[Current Mood : Bored]

[Worth a Surf : Ivan's recent entry]

Featured weekly reader challenge, "Fact or Fiction" put forward on Ivan Fung's Space asked the question that has been at the back of all our minds. Is Suge Knight Uncle Phil from Fresh Prince of Bel-air?

Originally posted on Ivan Fung's Space:

one of them is fact and the other fiction , please comment on this blog and see if u guys get it right

1) Dr Banks (from fresh prince of bel-air) is played by the rap mogul and death row owner Suge Knight.

OR

2) Dr Banks (from fresh prince of bel-air) is the voice of Shredder in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle cartoon

Please post away, thank you for reading the blog

Simply put, the answer is no.

Dr Banks (from Fresh Prince of Bel-air) plays the voice of Shredder in the 1987 childrens series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Furthermore, dodgey "swaying" evidence has been provided by Ivan. These images are all of poor resolution and have been replicated as is (below), unedited and untampered with.

If you are not convinced that they are actually not the same person, here are pictures I found myself.

Maybe not the best of evidence, but their demeanor are certainly different.

Finally, the last nail in the coffin, Dr Banks is played by actor James Avery. Suge Knight was born Marion Suge Knight. Here is a mug shot of Suge Knight for proof.

If you've read this thinking I was being serious, I wasn't.

I'm turning Japanese?

[Worth a Surf : Engadget, Railgun, Aaron Dunlap Blog, 2005 Yo-Yo Champion: Takayasu Tanaka, Wamono (Very Cool), Anabu-kin-chan, Marx Generator (thanks Laren]

Before you crack a gag about the title of this blog entry, no, I'm not turning Japanese "THAT" way. If you don't see where the gag is, I'll leave it there and tell you that it is actually a reference to a song from 1980.

Anyway...it seems like all I'm listening to is Japanese music these days. But hey, at least it's tasteful Japanese music and not the detestable stuff like Momosu that is spreading everywhere. In the spotlight of my playlist at the moment is Shiina Ringo. Matt (Hsu) introduced me to some Shiina Ringo music way back in the day. My first Shiina song was Gibusu. Oh maaan, it was pretty damn good. Anyway she does a huge number of genres. Love it.

In other news Anabu-kin-chaaaaan..... My last entry featured a ...... slightly tampered with animation featuring Anabu-kin-chan and Tanuki Ponpoko (a racoon with oversized testicles). I was talking to Valene about the ad that the animation came from and I dug up the link to she her. *wow!*. Weird stuff....

Onto the other links. The yoyo vid is "FANTASTIC". Reminds me of the yoyo fad everyone had in primary school (around 1996 I think). There were yoyos that glowed in the dark, scented yoyos and other assorted faddy stuff that we bought into. I had a glow in the dark yoyo, which, when you think about it, is pretty useless. Since you can't yoyo in the dark. Then came those outrageously priced "Brain" yoyos (by Yomega) which boasted ball bearings and all sorts of scientific stuff that made the yoyo "sleep" for longer. (~'')~ 0o0o0o scientific. Then there was Yo-Ho-Diablo, which, in my opinion, never took off as much as it was intended to. But hey, what do you expect? They were really THAT hard to use. After all, none of us are from Cirque Du Soleil.

Laren showed me one of his projects yesterday. He never finished making it because he didn't have a 1000000 volt generator. Pity though, it would have been a great show. It's pretty simple to make, I reckon I should give it a try and water down the power requirements to something from a 9v battery. Also, I made a taser from a disposable camera. It's pretty powerful, but not to the "bring it out for protection against who knows what" level. *Marx Generator Link*.

Special note, don't try it at home unless you're sure of what you are doing. I've almost died playing with electricity (seriously). I was fixing my Playstation once because the vibration fuse blew and needed replacement. So I opened it up, silly me, it was still plugged into the wall. Current went up my arm for a whole second or something... I didn't get super human powers though... Anyway, if the ampage was any higher, I would have been dead. It's called "Macroshock", when you provide a low resistance path in a circuit (aka "short circuit"). At 1-10mA, you feel a tingling sensation, at 10-100mA, you can't let go and have muscle spasms (I had this one, mild though), at 50mA-2A, ahahahaha ventricular fibrillation and self-sustained arrhythmic heart activity (Your heart chucks a spack and stops pumping blood. Muscle fibres twitch, but the muscle as a whole does not work.), at >2A, your heart stops beating and kinda goes into tetanus, so you're pretty much dead.

Play safe, kiddies!

So I woke up an hour late today, at 9:03am or something. Turns out enrolment opened at 8:00 today. Guess what? I was an hour late and an ENTIRE course was raped of lectures, Labs AND Tutes! HOLY FUCKING SHIT! I enrolled in all that I could (mind you, I have a very shit timetable littered with 8am starts and a few 8pm finishes), and emailed the course co-ordinator. Well, lucky for me, Tristan Blake (Course co-ordinator) caught the email early and opened up a few more spaces, emailed me, and did a PSA telling other students. Good work Tristan! (there was no sarcasm there, really, good work). I feel like "Hulk Smash"ing a few nerds now.
..... .....
Of course, we all know that the above picture is real......
*ahem* anyway......Looks like I'll be "out at UQ" *ahem Replay* to "study" a lot less next semester.

Anyway... It's been a semi-stressful few days this week. I'm yet to go into EmergencyPanic Oh NOOOO mode, but I think that'll be pretty soon if I don't start hardcore studying.

If you haven't noticed already, I recently found out that MSN spaces provide HTML support. I've been milking it in my last few entries. WOOO! Anyway, don't steal my icons, I stole them myself and you should at least have the decency of stealing them yourself.

Yeah........ I won't go overboard, since I definately don't want to turn my blog into this. No offence to Tiffany or anything (you're really cool), but you should go easy on the colours. Wouldn't want to cause any epileptic fits now, would we?......

Ok..... remind me NEVER to do that again.
*Note* This animation is a watered down version of the original. The original has music and has more than 3 frames.

In other news, I've been playing Shadow of the Colossus. I have to say, this is one of the best action adventure games I have ever played on any console. I even think that SotC is on par with Super Mario World and Kirby Super Star!!! The monsters are fantastic! (think Mr Chin "fantastic")

Anyway... to finish of, here are a few screen shots from the game.

Makybe Diva is Top Tier!

[Current Mood : Hyper ]
[Current Music : The Pillows - Last Dinosaur]

Go Makybe Diva!

The races just finished 2 minutes ago. What a feel good session. On a side note, I had money on Makybe Diva. I win!

Quote from News.com.au

SUPERHORSE Makybe Diva has run the race of her life to create history by becoming the first horse to win three-successive Melbourne Cups.

SUPERHORSE Makybe Diva has run the race of her life to create history by becoming the first horse to win three-successive Melbourne Cups. In a feat unlikely ever to be repeated, she claimed her hat-trick with a surge from fourth place 500m out from the line to go to win by a good length.

She was halfway down the field mid-way through the race and muscled out other runners as she approached the finish line.

Her jockey, Glen Boss, was choked with emotion after the race. "What a mare," he said, through tears.

Trainer Lee Freedman, who has shied away with comparisons to between Diva and the legendary Phar Lap in the run-up to today's race, said: "I don't want to talk down Phar Lap. But he never won three Melbourne Cups."

On A Jeune took second, with Xcellent in third.

A crowd of nearly 140,000 racegoers flocked to Melbourne's Flemington racecourse which was bathed in bright sunshine, with temperatures hitting a sweltering 27C.

Across the country, millions stopped whatever they were doing to watch the $5m race, Australia's most famous horserace.

This year's race held special significance, with race favourite Makybe Diva striving for her third Cup win.

The Diva, carrying 58.5kg, was aiming for a place in history by being the first horse to win three successive Melbourne Cups.

Makybe Diva was only cleared to run the race this morning, after trainers examined the track and pronounced it safe for her to run on.

The Diva was almost scratched from the race after fears the track would be too hard and injure the horse.
